hello!
i am chantal BLUE,
born and raised in the vibrant culture of South Africa (1992). My journey with poetry began in my early years, and over the past five, I have passionately honed my craft in English and art. In 2018, I embarked on an exciting adventure to Canada, where I pursued an Honours degree in Media Arts and Cultures, complemented by a minor in English Creative Writing. My degree focus was on film production, and my interest grew in New Media poetry; wherever the project scope allowed, my produced films were experimental/avant-garde poem-films.
I have written three chapbooks (unpublished) and currently, approximately 150 pages of poems in different phases, categorized under various themes.
I truly believe poetry is an art form that keeps us alive. Pouring out vulnerability creatively creates resonance and an emotional connection for the reader or audience, giving those without the ability to express through an art form as powerful as poetry a way of feeling and processing those feelings about a particular event, experience, or emotion—the same way visual art or performance art can.
Feeling seen, heard, or understood by a stranger’s perception is one of the most profound experiences.
